When it comes to registering to vote, there is more to know than you think. As a college student, you may choose to register from either your home address or your college address.

If you have changed dorms or are living at a different address from where you were previously registered, you will need to update your registrationIf you were previously registered at “home” and now wish to register at school, you should complete a new application and select “Address Change” at the top of the form.

 

Voter registration applications must be POSTMARKED  by October 17th for the General Election (which takes place Nov 7th)

The deadline to apply for a Mail-in Ballot by mail for the General Election is October 31st.

Registering Using Your Home Address

New Jersey Resident
If you are a New Jersey resident and wish to register to vote in elections that take place in your hometown, complete the form using your home address. Click here for registration forms. Make sure to choose the correct county in which you live. We recommend that you print a two-sided copy of your registration for easier mailing.

Be sure to list the town & county where you live, which may not be the same as your postal address; your municipality is the entity that provides services to you and to which you pay local taxes.

Out of State Resident
If you live out of state and wish to register to vote in elections that take place in your hometown, complete the form using your home address. Click here for registration forms for your state. Remember: if you will be out of your state on the day of the election, you will want to complete an absentee ballot.

Registering Using Your College Address

Registering Off Campus (New Brunswick/North Brunswick/Piscataway)
If you live in off campus housing and would like to vote in your residence community, fill in your off campus residence as your “Home Address” on the voter registration form.

Registering On The New Brunswick/North Brunswick/Piscataway Campus
If you reside on the New Brunswick/North Brunswick/Piscataway Campus, make sure to write your DORM NAME as “HOME ADDRESS” and your CAMPUS P.O. BOX as your “MAILING ADDRESS” on the registration form. *Remember to OPT-IN to the Rutgers mail services system to activate your mailing address.

Registering On The Newark Campus
If you reside at the Newark Campus, fill in your “DORM ADDRESS” as your “HOME ADDRESS” and your “CAMPUS P.O. BOX” as your “MAILING ADDRESS.”

The following are the addresses for the Newark Campus dorms:

      • Woodward Hall: 91 Bleeker St, Newark, NJ 07102
      • University Square: 155 University Ave, Newark, NJ 07102
      • Talbott Apartments: 101 Bleeker St, Newark, NJ 07102
      • 15 Washington Apartments: 15 Washington Street, Newark, NJ 07102
      • 180 West Market Street: 180 West Market Street, Newark, NJ 07103

Registering On The Camden Campus
If you reside at the Camden Campus, fill in your “DORM ADDRESS” as your “HOME ADDRESS” and your “CAMPUS P.O. BOX” as your “MAILING ADDRESS.”

The following are the addresses for the Camden Campus dorms:

      • Camden Tower: 215 N. 3rd Street, Camden, NJ 08102
      • Camden Apartments: 215 N. 3rd Street, Camden, NJ 08102
      • Graduate Housing: 330 Cooper Street, Camden, NJ 08102

**Please be aware: if you have registered on campus before and are not living in the EXACT same place, you MUST update your registration!**
For more information about how to check your voter record, click here, then select “AM I registered.“

Voter Registration Applications must be POSTMARKED by October 17 for the General Election. See below for drop-off locations for each campus.

CAMDEN: Campus Center Lobby, Impact Information Booth. Forms will be accepted until noon, October 16.

NEWARK: Office of Student Life, Paul Robeson Campus Center, 350 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Room 352. Forms will be accepted until noon, September 16.

NEW BRUNSWICK: Eagleton Institute of Politics, located on Ryders Lane. Forms will be accepted until noon, October 17.

Students of Rutgers Biomedical & Health Sciences are encouraged to find the closest drop off location in Newark or New Brunswick.
