Virginia Demographic Background

About 68% of people in Virginia are White, roughly 19% are Black or African American, 9% are Hispanic or Latino, and about 6% are Asian.1 The largest generation in Virginia is the Baby Boom Generation, comprising almost 26% of the population, followed by the Millennial Generation, which comprises almost 23%.2, 3  The smallest generation is the Silent Generation, consisting of about 10% of the population.
