Darien Civic Engagement Project

Experience Politics

Applications are open for the Spring 2020 Darien Civic Engagement Project – an exciting opportunity to put your interest in politics into action in the greater New Brunswick community!

What is the Darien Civic Engagement Project?

The Darien Civic Engagement Project is offered during the Fall and Spring semesters at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University. For the upcoming Spring semester, students can register for a 1.5 credit Topics in Political Science course (790:251). Enrolled students will work together with Dr. Elizabeth Matto of the Eagleton Institute of Politics and CYPP staff on RU Ready – a civic engagement initiative to provide students with the motivation and the civic, political, and expressive tools they need to address public problems in their community.

In conjunction with their coursework, DCEP students will meet together on Mondays from 10:55am to 12:15pm at the Eagleton Institute of Politics, work directly with local high school students and administer interactive sessions, and research youth voter turn-out rates and participate in a public presentation at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at the end of the semester.

If taken in conjunction with an additional 1.5-credit political science course, such as Reading Social Science Research (790:254), these credits will count as political science elective credits.
