Elections Division Clerk, Middlesex County Board of Elections
Working under the supervision of the Chief Clerk and Deputy Clerks and is responsible for assisting the Chief Clerk with critical functions of the Board of Elections including conducting election operations and maintaining voter registration. This employee assists with the election supplies and ensures that they are accurately prepared and maintained within prescribed deadlines and according to New Jersey laws and office procedures.  This position coordinates mail-in ballot and provisional ballot, tabulation operations. May be asked to assist with ballot counting measures. Can be tasked with drop box mail-in ballot pickups if the need arises. Will be given tasks not enumerated concerning preparedness for Early Voting and Election Day items. Learn more and apply. 
Responsibilities:
  • Conducts business in accordance with the federal election guidelines, Title 19 of New Jersey State Statutes, the Policies and Procedures of the State Division of Elections, and the Middlesex County Board of Elections.
  • Prepare and pack election supplies.
  • Maintain the Statewide Voter Registration System through processing voter registration forms.
  • Receive and process mail-in ballots.
  • Safeguard sensitive election documents and supplies.
  • Performs all other duties assigned, delegated, or required of the Administrator and Chief Clerk
    including those prescribed by law.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability to perform professionally under stress when confronted with tight deadlines.
  • Willing to work extended hours before elections.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Works effectively in cooperation with other seasonals and Board staff.
  • Applies excellent interpersonal skills, including effective oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, dependability, problem-solving skills, and
    ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
Minimum Education, experience, and physical ability:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; must have the ability to accurately follow verbal and written directions and be observant. Computer proficiency is a must. Must have a valid New Jersey Driver License. Must be able to travel via county vehicle if asked, Will be asked to lift trays of ballots during employment, must be able to handle minimal physical exertion in handling these duties. Consideration may be given to candidates who are fluent in either/or: Spanish, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Chinese, and Korean.
 Candidates must undergo a county background check, health screening, and drug test before beginning employment.

Both are running for New Jersey Assembly for the two seats in the 32nd district (Hoboken/Jersey City).

Responsibilities

  • Work with campaign organizers to recruit, train and manage volunteers for canvassing, relational events, phone banking and other field activities
  • Assist with running regular field events like canvasses and phone banks
  • Help with social media, data entry and other tasks as needed

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Excited to work with progressive candidates to fight for a fairer New Jersey
  • A willingness to learn new things and to step out of their comfort zones
  • Interested in learning about campaigns in a fun, busy and fulfilling environment
  • Fellows can set their own schedules – you can help out for as little as 2 hours a week to as
    many as 20 hours a week.
